The Last Few Weeks Have Been Pretty Special!

The last few weeks have reminded me exactly why I love this sport and this lifestyle.

It all started with our road trip back from Spain. Ted, Zeb and Marcus made the journey north to Chamonix, but rather than simply driving, they stopped at a number of flying sites along Spain's east coast whenever conditions looked good. There's something incredibly satisfying about breaking up a long drive with a few hours in the air, and it set the tone perfectly for what was to come.

Once they had joined me in Chamonix, the whole team was reunited, and we enjoyed some of the best Alpine conditions I've seen this year. One morning we all climbed out together above Le Brévent, thermalling to over 2,500m and taking in those incredible views across the Mont Blanc Massif.

I also had the chance to introduce Ted to his first real mountaineering experience. We climbed the Aiguille du Tour (3,540m), roped together across the glacier before reaching the summit. Rather than spending hours descending on foot, we unpacked our paragliders and flew straight back into the valley.

The exceptional spell of hot weather produced some truly unforgettable flying. I managed to fly above Mont Blanc for the first time before heading off on a vol-biv adventure, carrying my camping kit as I flew to Annecy, spent the night, then flew back to Chamonix the following day.

Then came something I've wanted to achieve ever since moving to Chamonix in 2014. I finally managed to top land on Mont Blanc itself. It was one of those rare moments that I'll never forget.

From there it was straight to SkyWeek France in Burgundy, with temperatures hitting 41°C! To escape the heat, we headed north to fly along the historic Maginot Line, close to the Belgian and Luxembourg borders.

Now we're back in the UK in time for the start of the season at Hinton Airfield. To top it off, I've just completed 15 consecutive days of flying!

Spain: Almost completely full, with availability only during the final two weeks from 18th October – 1st November.
