The Opportunity to Pursue a Different Path
For generations, young people have been told that the route to a successful future is simple: work hard at school, go to university, get a degree and find a good job. That path works well for many people. However, it is not the only path.
SkySchool's Managing Director, Alex Ledger, chose a different route. Rather than pursuing a conventional office based career after university, he founded SkySchool in his early twenties and built a life around flying, travel, adventure and the outdoors. Over the last two decades, that decision has allowed him to earn a living doing something he genuinely loves, while travelling the world, meeting extraordinary people, developing skills and having experiences that simply cannot be found by doing a conventional job.
Today, SkySchool is one of the most established paramotor schools in the world, having trained thousands of pilots from all walks of life. Through the SkySchool Academy, Alex hopes to give other like minded young people the opportunity to discover a similar path and to realise that there are alternatives to the well trodden route.
But the world is also changing. AI is already transforming many traditional professions, creating uncertainty about what the future job market will look like. At the same time, many people are leaving education with significant debt, limited practical experience and no clear idea of what they actually want to do with their lives.
We believe there will always be demand for highly skilled, practical, people focused professionals who can teach, inspire, guide and lead others through real world experiences.
Most people see paramotoring as a hobby, but we see it as a lifestyle and career. Every instructor started out as a student learning to fly, before going on to build careers around their passion for the sport. They are effectively their own bosses, working outdoors, meeting interesting people and sharing a passion they genuinely enjoy.
