Location and Accommodation Information
Lake Annecy is a beautiful location on the edge of the Alps approximately 1 hour from Geneva. It is the home of Paragliding and therefore an ideal place to run Paragliding courses. All flying takes place at the south eastern end of the lake near the town of Doussard. All SkySchool instructors will be staying at 'Camping la Nubliere' which is a camp site with it's own landing area. It is situated only 1k from the small town of Doussard and is by far the cheapest option at €10 per person per night in a tent. For those who do not fancy camping then it is possible to stay in a 2/3 man studio flat for €340 per week. There is also shop on site with plenty of supplies for breakfast, lunch and supper as well as some excellent local restaurants. Rob, SkySchool's chef from Spain, may also be on site to provide some food.
Transport
Students should aim to arrive and depart on the exact dates advertised by SkySchool. We recommend you travel with Easyjet to Geneva and then take a train or bus to Annecy Train station where we can collect you. The fee includes most of the transport up to the take off sites in the minibus and also the restaurants/bars/cafes etc. From time to time students will need to pay a local paragliding school €6 per trip from the landing area at Doussard to the main take off site at Forclaz. Most flying will take place at Talloires and SkySchool will provide all transport up to the take off site.
Further Information
The holiday will be a lot of fun and an excellent opportunity for those new to the sport to experience first hand the freedom and excitement Paragliding offers. The area is great for other activities including mountain biking, walking and water sports. The Old Town of Annecy is also a very popular tourist destination due to its beautiful historic buildings and fantastic restaurants. It therefore makes an excellent family holiday as well.
