Paraglide Nepal

In January 2010 SkySchool MD Alex Ledger visited Nepal for 3 a week Paragliding Holiday. It was one of the best paragliding experiences of his life and he has decided to return in 2011 to run some bespoke Paraglding Holidays. They are designed for existing paraglider pilots as well as pilots who have completed a SkySchool paramotor course. Throughout the trip pilots will be able to develop their XC skills wihile under the guidance of both Alex and local instructors. Included in the trip is a 3 day SIV course with the renowned Swiss Acro pilot and instructor David Arrufat. Finally, the holiday culminates in an epic 2 day paragliding expedition to a remote mountain where we camp out before flying back to Pokhara the following day. It will be the Paragliding Holiday of a life time and something pilots will remember for the rest of their lives!

The Itinerary

• Friday - Depart the UK
• Saturday - Arrive and stay in Kathmandu
• Sunday - Arrive in Pokhara in the morning and have a leisure day, settle in, sleep, relax etc.
• Monday - Briefing at 10.00am, tour of landing areas, ground handling, kit checks and have an evening flight
• Tuesday to Saturday - Fly locally around Pokhara
• Sunday - Day Off
• Monday to Wednesday - 3 day SIV course
• Thursday and Friday - 2 day Expedition to Sirikot
• Saturday - Internal flight to and night in Kathmandu
• Sunday - Return flight to the UK

The Holiday

The Holiday is only available to either existing Paraglider pilots or those who have already sat a SkySchool Paramotoring course. It is designed for pilots who wish to not only have the Paragliding Holiday of a life time but also want to rapidly develop their Paragliding skills and experience. This is because Nepal is ideal for both Cross Country (XC) Paragliding and also Acro (SIV) Paragliding. Pilots therefore have the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone by developing their thermalling skills and possibly logging a personal best XC, as well as developing their confidence in the wing by improving their ability to control it. Finally, the expedition at the end of the trip will allow pilots to put their newly developed skills to the test. Alex not only wrote an article about his experiences in 2010 but also made a short film.

Location and Accommodation

The main flying sites are near the town of Pokhara which is the paragliding Mecca in Nepal. We suggest pilots arrive in Kathmandu on Saturday, spend one night there and then catch a 45 minute flight to Pokhara on Sunday. In Pokhara all pilots will be accommodated in the Crown Hotel which is very well located on the edge of town nearby the lake. The en quite rooms are very comfortable and there is the option of single or double beds as the very reasonable price of €6 a night. Flights

Customers should aim to arrive in Kathmandu on a Saturday on the dates stated above in order to catch an internal flight the following day to Pokhara. Customers should then aim to depart from Kathmandu airport on a Sunday on the the dates stated above having taken an internal flight to Kathmandu the day before. The overnight hotel in Kathmandu is organised by SkySchool and included in the price. SkySchool recommends Jet Airways who not only fly from Heathrow to Delhi but also from Delhi to Kathmandu. Internal flights from Kathmandu to Pokhara cost approximately €65 each way per person and willl be arrnaged by SkySchool. For further information on flights then do contact us.
