Instructor Courses

Kitesurfing in Kenya

The Kitesurfing Instructor courses take place at Che Shale beach near Malindi in Kenya and also near Poole in the UK. They are run by BKSA instructor Shane Van Leeuwen and students have the option of a 5 or 7 week course subject to their previous experience.


5 Week Course: £3900

The '5 Week Course' consists of 4 weeks in Kenya followed by 1 week in the UK. It is designed for Kitesurfers who have BKSA Level 2 or similar and have been Kitesurfing for at least 1 year. Successful students will attain the following:

  • BKSA Level 1 Instructor
  • 1 year BKSA membership
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2
  • RYA first aid at sea

The next available 5 Week Instructor courses commence on the following dates:

  • 1st August 2010
  • 30th January 2011

Further Information

The course fee includes all accommodation, breakfast, supper, transport on site, instruction and equipment. It does not include flights, insurance, lunch, drinks or spending money. The last week is spent in the UK doing the Powerboat and First Aid courses as well as the final exams, after which, successful students with become qualified BKSA Kitesurfing Instructors. 7 Week Course: £4900Riding a wave while Kitesurfing in Kenya

The '7 week Course' consists of 6 Weeks in Kenya followed by 1 week in the UK. It is designed for completed beginners or those who have been Kitesurfing for less than 1 year. Successful students will attain the following:

  • BKSA Level 2 kitesurfer
  • BKSA Level 1 Instructor
  • 1 year BKSA membership
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2
  • RYA first aid at sea

The next available 7 Week Instructor courses commence on the following dates:

  • 18th July 2010
  • 16th of January 2011

The course fee includes all accommodation, breakfast, supper, transport on site, instruction and equipment. It does not include flights, insurance, lunch, drinks or spending money. The last week is spent in the UK doing the Powerboat and First Aid courses as well as the final exams, after which, successful students with become qualified BKSA Kitesurfing Instructors.
